This trek is one of the most thrilling and demanding adventures in the Everest region. After a week-long journey to Chukkung (4,600 m), you will embark on an incredible traverse across three of Nepal's highest mountain passes: Kongma La, Cho La, and Renjo La. Each step offers breathtaking views of towering Himalayan peaks.

During your trek, you will visit Everest Base Camp and experience the stunning beauty of Gokyo Lakes. You'll also have the opportunity to explore vibrant Sherpa villages and ancient monasteries. This trek is designed for fit and experienced trekkers, promising unforgettable memories and a profound connection with the majestic Himalayas.

Itinerary

  • Day 1
    Arrival in Kathmandu: Upon arrival at Kathmandu International Airport, transfer to your hotel in Kathmandu or Bhaktapur. Depending upon your arrival time, you may spend your free time visiting nearby sanctuaries or resting.
  • Day 2
    Trek Preparations and Cultural Day in Kathmandu Valley: An early departure from Kathmandu traveling by road via the Prithvi Highway. After a few hours before Malekhu, we turn north taking the single track road for Dhading Besi and beyond to Arughat- the last hour or so on a dusty section. A private 4WD is recommended due to road conditions.
  • Day 3
    Kathmandu to Phakding: Early morning flight to Lukla (30 minutes), followed by a trek to Phakding (3 hours). En route, cross the Tharo Koshi River and enjoy views of Kusum Kangru Peak (6,367 m).
  • Day 4
    Phakding to Namche Bazaar: Trek along the Dudh Koshi River, crossing suspension bridges and passing through forests and villages. The day ends with a steep climb to Namche Bazaar (6 hours).
  • Day 5
    Acclimatization in Namche Bazaar: Take a day hike through Khunde and Khumjung villages, visiting Syangboche airstrip and enjoying views of Khumbila and surrounding peaks. Return to Namche Bazaar (5 hours).
  • Day 6
    Namche to Tengboche/Deboche: Trek through side valleys, passing Kenjoma and Sanasa. Ascend to Tengboche Monastery (3,870 m), known for its stunning mountain views, then descend to Deboche for the night (5 hours).
  • Day 7
    Tengboche to Dingboche: Pass through rhododendron forests, cross the Imja Khola River, and trek past Pangboche to alpine meadows leading to Dingboche (4.5 hours).
  • Day 8
    Dingboche to Chhukung: Hike through stone-walled fields and alpine landscapes, crossing glacier moraines with views of Island Peak and towering mountains on both sides. Overnight in Chhukung.
  • Day 9
    Acclimatization Day in Chhukung: Explore Chhukung Ri or hike to Island Peak base camp. Enjoy views of Lhotse, Ama Dablam, and Makalu. Overnight in Chhukung.
  • Day 10
    Chhukung to Kongma La Pass to Lobuche: Cross Kongma La Pass (5,535 m), a challenging ascent with views of icy lakes and the Khumbu Glacier. Descend to Lobuche (7 hours).
  • Day 11
    Lobuche to Gorak Shep to Everest Base Camp and back: Trek to Gorak Shep, then hike to Everest Base Camp. Return to Gorak Shep for the night (6 hours).
  • Day 12
    Gorak Shep to Kala Patthar to Lobuche: Early morning hike to Kala Patthar (5,545 m) for sunrise views of Everest and surrounding peaks. Descend to Gorak Shep and continue to Lobuche.
  • Day 13
    Lobuche to Dzongla: Trek to Dzongla, passing Chola Lake and enjoying panoramic views of Ama Dablam and other peaks. Overnight in Dzongla.
  • Day 14
    Dzongla to Cho La Pass to Gokyo: Cross Cho La Pass (5,420 m), then descend past icy trails and Ngozumpa Glacier to reach Gokyo Village by the third Gokyo Lake. Overnight in Gokyo.
  • Day 15
    Rest Day in Gokyo: Climb Gokyo Ri for panoramic views of Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, and Cho Oyu. Alternatively, explore the Gokyo Lakes and nearby viewpoints.
  • Day 16
    Gokyo to Renjo La Pass to Marlung: Cross Renjo La Pass (5,360 m), enjoying spectacular views of Everest and surrounding peaks. Descend past Dudh Pokhari Lake to Marlung.
  • Day 17
    Marlung to Namche Bazaar: Follow the traditional Tibetan trade route through Thame, passing monasteries, villages, and the hydroelectric power station before arriving at Namche Bazaar.
  • Day 18
    Namche Bazaar to Lukla: Retrace your steps along the Dudh Koshi River, passing Monjo and other villages. Arrive at Lukla and prepare for your flight (5 hours).
  • Day 19
    Lukla to Kathmandu: Take a morning flight back to Kathmandu and spend the day at leisure, shopping or sightseeing.
  • Day 20
    Final Departure: Transfer to the airport for your international flight or continue your journey to your next destination. Please note that the itinerary may change due to weather or unforeseen circumstances.
