Starting with a flight to Lukla, the trail follows the Dudh Kosi River through vibrant rhododendron and magnolia forests, gradually ascending to iconic destinations like Namche Bazaar and Dingboche for acclimatization. As you trek higher, the landscapes transform into icy wilderness, leading you to the legendary Everest Base Camp (5,364 m), at the foot of the world’s tallest peak.
A sunrise hike to Kala Patthar (5,545 m) offers spectacular views of Mount Everest and the Khumbu Glacier, a highlight of the journey. Along the way, you’ll experience panoramic views from Syangboche, visit the serene Tengboche Monastery, and immerse yourself in the charm of Khumjung village. Itinerary
- Day 1Arrival in Kathmandu: Transfer to your hotel and a short briefing on trekking formalities and itinerary. Explore nearby areas if time permits.
- Day 2Trek Preparations and Sightseeing: Half-day tour of UNESCO heritage sites in Kathmandu and Bhaktapur. Finalize trekking permits and enjoy a traditional Nepali dinner in the evening.
- Day 3Kathmandu to Phakding: Flight to Lukla (30 mins) followed by a trek to Phakding (3 hours). Overnight stay.
- Day 4Phakding to Namche Bazaar: Trek through forests and villages, crossing suspension bridges, and entering Sagarmatha National Park. Overnight in Namche Bazaar (6 hours).
- Day 5Acclimatization in Namche Bazaar: Hike to Shyangboche, Khunde, and Khumjung villages. Explore and return to Namche Bazaar (5 hours).
- Day 6Namche Bazaar to Tengboche: Trek through scenic trails with views of Everest and Ama Dablam. Visit Tengboche Monastery. Overnight stay (5 hours).
- Day 7Tengboche to Pheriche: Descend through rhododendron forests, pass Pangboche, and trek to Pheriche. Overnight stay (4:30 hours).
- Day 8Acclimatization in Pheriche: Hike to Chhukung for views of Island Peak, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam. Return to Pheriche (4 hours).
- Day 9Pheriche to Duglha: Climb through valleys and past glacial moraines to Duglha. Overnight stay (3 hours).
- Day 10Duglha to Lobuche: Steep ascent to Chukpilhara memorial area, then trek to Lobuche with stunning views of Nuptse. Overnight stay.
- Day 11Lobuche to Gorak Shep: Trek alongside Khumbu Glacier to Gorak Shep. Visit Everest Base Camp and return to Gorak Shep (6 hours).
- Day 12Gorak Shep to Lobuche: Early morning hike to Kala Patthar for Everest views. Descend to Lobuche (6 hours).
- Day 13Lobuche to Dingboche: Retrace steps to Dughla, then take an upper trail with great views to Dingboche. Overnight stay (4 hours).
- Day 14Dingboche to Tengboche: Descend the Imja valley, cross the Khumbu Khola, and return to Tengboche (3 hours).
- Day 15Tengboche to Namche Bazaar: Retrace the trail back to Namche Bazaar through forested trails and scenic viewpoints (5 hours).
- Day 16Namche Bazaar to Lukla: Long trek back to Lukla, descending steeply to Dudh Koshi River and passing Monjo. Overnight stay in Lukla (7 hours).
- Day 17Lukla to Kathmandu: Morning flight back to Kathmandu. Overnight at a hotel.
- Day 18Departure from Kathmandu: Transfer to the airport for onward travel.
